pulau ubin trip and BBQ yestrday

hello

i'll post about Poiema's Outing to Pulau Ubin once i get the pics from deqi.

it would be nicer with the pics

hahahahah

okay

yesterday was 4R1 BBQ

well

it certainly came and went man

planning was quite tough

but its now all over

as usual, we had too much food

oh well

anyway, buying the food items was quite an experience

we spent ard $160

and how to get from the start of pasir ris park to the end of pasir ris park with at least 30 kg of BBQ items shared by 6 ppl?

easy.

we walked halfway, and rented a bike.

and we cycled with all those items hooked on the bike handles

woots!

we were still there early

so we decided to set up the fire first

night soon came

and everyone was happily eating

it was time for F.F to get a break

the 4 of us (Daniel didnt join us cuz he had to pei his girl >< )

me, tiong, bo, bao went to sit on the rocks

and had sometime chatting

we lie down on the rocks

and admired the bright shining stars

it was a cloudless night

and the sound of waves at our feets

that was quite an experience

but bao went to on some emo songs on her handphone

and it spoiled the happy mood

but nvrtheless, star gazing is definietly fun

esp if its with your closed frenz, and loved ones

yup =D

then after ard 30 to 45 mins, we went back for the BBQ

and many had left already

so the few remaining ppl which included

me, tiong, bao, bo, daniel, shu ying, sze how, audi, grace

we tried to finish all the food

but to no avail

in between, there were loads of crapping and story telling =S

hahah

we packed up stall at ard 11.30

and left the place

yet another ex-class gathering had come, and gone.

reached home ard 12.30

tired. shacked.

slept ard 1.30, and dozed into dreamland...

next day, went to church

was lateeeeeeeeeeee

during cell, being the super nice leader, i brought pringles for them

might have been abit of a mistake though..

wondered if it distracted them from sarah's lesson

hahas!

anyway, we discussed about our cell outing

and it looks like its gna be real fun

except that after the fun, it'll be filled with sadness

well, lets just pray hard that time slooooows down

we then helped aunty linda to shift the items from third floor of CC to the storeroom at the chinese congregation, so that construction could commence at our present site.

all in all, the past 3 days have been tiring, but fun, and heart warming

maybe the song below will speak how i feel

as for now, i'm of to immense myself in the red half of Manchester.

its probably the only time ever i get to take my mind of everything and stay focused on what i really want.

the kids at KiddyArk love me =D

hello!

one week of CIP is over

its been real fun

i went to KiddyArk to do CIP

i helped out at the Before After School Care Centre

well well

my class for the past few days comprised of approx 7 students

Ian: He's obedient and very honest. No problems with him =)

Winston: Oldest there, hence quite authorative, but other than that, he's pretty fine too

Megan: Not naughty

Kai Xin: Bubbly and Cheerful (Although she cried today =S)

Yan Jie: Quiet

Shannon: The joker i guess. But too excessive

Samuel: The small baby! hahaha!

okay

so on my first day there, mum had mc

so she didnt go work

so me and daniel had the whole class to ourselves

we had a movie review session with them (adapted form agape)

the show was Finding Nemo

needless to say, since they had already found nemo several times, many wanted to slp alr

hahaha!

on wednesday, basically played alot alot of games with them

they are hooked on Game Of Life and Cluedo

They even ask if i will be coming again next year to teach them

they miss me already =P

Today, brought them for bowling

had lots of fun man

hahaha

11 ppl went

the 7 kids, plus me, daniel, my mum, and ms ong

my sis met us there later on to join in

okay!

today outing with the kids were awesome!

they were hilariously playful

hahaha

and the day was full of surprises too!

when we reached there, we were one of the first few customers

so we had the lanes definitely

i set up the gutters for all of those present except myself

LOL

yup

the kids were funny!

shannon threw the ball off the lanes into the walkway

and yan jie threw the ball backwards!

hahaha!

okay..and samuel did pretty well for a small boy like him

hahaha!

final standings?

and the rest no need say alr

then we met uncle chan

he is one of the father of a parent at KiddyArk Centre

and he was actually one of the bosses at Orchid Bowl!

so upon seeing us, he offered to give us a BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR for free =)

and the kids were VERY excited

okay..i was a little too since its been ages since i went behind the scenes

we also had a chance to hold the pins

okay.

the pins are around 3 pounds 8 ounces, and is made of wood

i remember okay!

we took several photos, before ms ong gave the kids a good news

The kids were oging to have KFC for lunch!

yea rite.

thankgoodness me and daniel didnt order whatever the kids had

it was paltry

goodness me..i think both of us could have eaten 3 of that

LOL

went back centre, and made the kids bath before sending them back to slp

and while they were slping

me and daniel were given two slices of Cafe Cartel CheeseCake as a token of appreciation for today's effort

thank you ms wong

the cheese cake was rich and heavenly

sentosa trip cancelled today.

today, my family's sentosa trip was cancelled

cuz mummy nt feeling well

so i stayed home and did my preparation for tml's activity at kiddyark

hmm..lets hope it'll go smoooothly =)

so pulau ubin trip is this friday

so i didnt watch it finish

today's sunday

was a little sleepy due to extensive photo searching on my computer last nite

scanned thru at least over a thousand pictures from the past

anyway, today led cell for masterlife

okayy..half of the cell did week 4 and the other half didnt..

guess we were all very busy

but this week must do okayy =)

i tried smth new out for cell today

included this role playing segment in our discussion

maybe i shd have prepared a script for them

tot it was rather uncertain

but nvrtheless, i think it was quite okay..at least nt so monotonous like just sit there and discuss questions

went to tmall for lunch with the youths

well well

so we're gna go pulau ubin this week

nt sure what day though~

thats cool still

havent been there for ages

haha

the last time i was there, it was during my sec 3 NPCC Adventure Training Camp

i sitll rmb we had pitched tents in the field, and then one nite it rained so heavy our tents gt flooded

hahaha

cool though

then there's an upcoming carolling soon

yet another Christmas productions by Poiema

then there's CELL OUTING

a pity we didnt book any rooms at the siloso resort

KiddyArk Graduation / Rainie Yang New Album!!

today was KiddyArk Graduation

so tehre is my 20 hrs of CIP already

10 on thurs and 10 today

i saw my future students for the next 2 weeks agian

haha

saw samuel, kai xin, nicole, winston, megan

samuel most dao can!!!

me and my sis said hi to him..he just dao-ed us!!

like only two days ago he was crapping with us -.-

my mum said it was cuz his mum with him..so he scared

o.O

the whole ceremony was awesome

we even took their props such as the big globe and the flags for our church mission conference

LOL

but smth sure did piss me off today

the tall ladder

okay. it is long

and it has to be tall and long

but it need nt be that tall such that i cant even fit it in the store room or it'll break a light or smth

-.-

i was asked ot keep it in the store room that was soooo super short

in the end i just left it at the staircase and nt in the store room cuz there was no way that thing was going into the store

there's that.

1. Thanks to aunty gwen for bringing my thumbdrive and scissors today. and hahaha..it actually gt lost in her bag as she was finding it to return it to me..lols! =)

Settler's Cafe Outing!

have a happy holiday~~ and rmb our presents =D

today..had outing to Settler's Cafe with the youth leaders and rachel lim

mainly it was to celebrate the end of sarah's, charmaine's, and rachel's a lvls

*so does that mean next year is my turn to celebrate =DD*

ahha!

we wanted to go to the katong branch

so we had dinner there

dinner for me, deqi, charmaine, uncle steven was laksa

and porridge for sarah, jonathan, james

then...

oh no!!

cldnt find settlers

so we went to SMU branch

hahahaha

we played 3 games

1) Treasure Hunting

2) Apples and Apples

3) Chaoodles

treasure hunting was wacky

we were all crazily searching for the pictures that the cards wanna us to find

hahahah!

like..awesome!

next game was apples and apples

omg.

this is one retarded nonsense gameee

we had to crap like..to the max

okay..its easy to crap without any subject

but nt with a subject for me

hahaha

this was a rather individualistic game though

next was chaoodles

it is smth like charades

but the game itself provides props for us to use

it was interesting

and fun too

hahahha

but i still enjoyed the treasure hunting =D

we also had free flow of drinks

which was pretty good

for 10 bucks, i think it was money well spent =D

and we had loads of laughter too!

today's outing summarised in one word?

PERFECT.

Carrick and Barry better than Gerrard Lampard Axis for England?

England "Reserves" beat Germany "Reserves" 2-1 on thursday morning, Singapore time

Both of england centre backs provided the goods by scoring both goals for an understrength England team, while a stupid defensive blunder by john TERRY gave germany's Patrick HELMES a chance to reply

was just thinking to myself abt a possible new england midfield?

the line up for england was

GK: James (Carson 45)

DEF: Glen JOHNSON, John TERRY, Matthew UPSON, Wayne BRIDGE

MID: Stewart DOWNING, Michael CARRICK, Gareth BARRY, Shaun Wright Phillip (Peter CROUCH 90)
ATT: Jermaine DEFOE (Darren BENT 45), Gabriel AGBONLAHOR (Ashley YOUNG 77)

as one can see, more than 75% of england's first team were out thru injuries..

but i feel this could be a blessing in disguise

for many years, being an england supporter was rather irritating

there was no success for any england manager to field both gerrard and lampard together

then came fabio capello, an italian coach

and he had some success with the gerrard lampard combination, often fielding barry as a defensive midfielder to allow gerrard and lampard license to roam

but in this recent match, i thought the Carrick-Barry partnership was superb

Carrick, as always efficient, grabbed his chacnes and was my man-of-the match

and no, its not because he is manchester united star, but simply becasue his range of passing is superb

he may nt have the same powerful shot as gerrard or lampard, but i dare say his passing is much better

controlled sublime football

thats what england shd need in their midfield engine

not an overpowering one that threatens the midfield engine to overboil

and barry, is becoming a phenomenen

simply put it, the injury that ruled out gerrard, lampard, rooney, ferdinand, joe cole, walcott has proved only one thing

no one has a guaranteed first team place

and with this showing, maybe, capello knows he has gt the answer to england midfield problems.

today was spent in church!

helped out with kiddyark rehearsal

and had sometime with my new class for the next 2 week

i met ian, samuel, kai xin, shannon, nicole, morgan and a few more today

lol

they were definitley very very noisy

but quite fun too

hahaha

helping out was nt easy man

as u noe..kids..in masses..are a handful

plus those decorations nvr seem to stick

had to keep repasting them on

anyway

this photo brings back lots of memories!

i rmb it was the national day celebration for year 2006

me, and willy were given the chance to raise the flag

and i was asked to raise the singapore flag

hmm

i rmb something funny abt being a prefect back then

even though i was just a normal leader for one of the many prefect grps around, i was made the leader for a group of vice head prefects

and this was funny

becuase i was nt the head prefect, but i was above the vice head prefects

hahahah

anyway

raising the flag was a great experience

hahaha

nlb writing competition 2003

hello!

today is the first posting of my long lost phots!

haha

i love this photo very much

happy i gt it back^^

it was taken in 2003, during an NLB Composition prize ceremony held in conjunction with Family Day

i rmb very clearly how the NLB officials were very kind to accept my late submission

i think i was late by a few days

i had written a compo about my grandfather life, and it won me the first prize

haas

late submission, yet i won it..it would probably have stirred some controversy had others known

well..it did stir some controversy

but it was good controversy

the very reason i love this photo is because it signified my second appearance on National TV

the first was for Singapore Mint, which i have no recoding of..

The second is this!

as it was family day event

the news reporters were all there

and they wanted to interview me about what i wrote on

what gave me this prize

honoured man

i'm pretty sure my grandfather who was standing beside me must have felt VERY proud

lol

ar!!

i'm sooo happy i found all these photos

oh oh..still gt last time AGAPE kids photos

omg. ryan looked freaking cute last time

hahahahs!

i was spending like..2 plus hr scanning thru them all

come to think of it..yea

i think the generation when i was a kid, all of us little ones were very very close!

most of us came from the dance ministry..we went for countless church camps together..went for outings..

i guess we would rmb aunty gwen and aunty veron and many more teachers leading us into worship..planning activities for us

ahahah..thinking back now, i find those moments the most fun ever!

anyway, today i spent my time clearing my room

haha

it looks VERY neat now

and because of my neat room, i have now found the motivation to study!

we then all went for lunch at tmall

and it was quite a nice enjoyable meal

went home and played games with mum and sis~~

today is awesome!

we were looking thru this CD bag

hoping to find some of the old church photos

for memory's sake

and and

we stumbled upon this disc

it said : Picture 1 till 04102003

it seemed wierd

we wondered..whats in this?

so i went to check it out

and it was EXACTLY what i have been searching for the past 1 year

as many would know

my old ocmputer crashed around 3 years ago

but the hard disk was still around

i always wnated to send the hard disk for repair

but never did so

as it would be expensive to repair a crashed hard drive

and now

all those old family photos we took..whether abroad or at home

were actually right here!

in front of us for the past 1 year

and we nvr saw it

hahas

quite interesting how God made me find it for one year

anyways

i'm gna sort out all this photos again

memories

welcome back to jc life joel!

brought back down to earth today

when i thought everything was gna be so smooth sailing for this holidays..

i had school today.

sank myself in one

we used our Ben n Jerry vouchers we won

went to return sarah's laptop

before meeting bo jun, tiong wei, bao for study outing

especially bao who first suggested it

but bao was the last to come since she had band prac

and we left as soona s she wanted to come cuz we were bored of studying

no mood, no feel, no motivation

tw came to stay

and we watched a lucky arsenal beat man utd 2-1

i think well, kudos to the small boys for doing a shock result, but as far as i'm concerned, i'm not worried simply becuase of one fact.

Arsenal, have lost to hull, stoke, bolton, fulham. Man Utd have lost to the liverpool and arsenal and drawn chelsea

so, arsenal will drop more points sooner rather then later

not man utd.

what can i say?

a day that went well

had church today

pastor ezekiel had to preach elsewhere

so he didnt come

we had NOOMA for youth

and we breifly discussed a Youth Christmas Project

and i'm offically employed as an IT Consultant for this group led by CEO of YCP Group, Miss Faith Ang

then went off to Funan IT Mall to buy ink cartridge

it was dirt cheap

went for Uncle Steven Ordination service

okay. we waited till ard 6 then went

cuz we went to try dessert stores around the area

we went to this first store and had 5 different types of dessert there first.

1) Durian puree with Glutinious Rice Rolls

2) Boiled Papaya with white fungus and ginko nuts

3) Cold Walnut Paste

4) Mango puree with sago and black pearls

5) Egg Drop Water Chestnut Paste

after devouring these 5 items, we decided to go for uncle steven ordiantion at St Andrew Cathedral

but alas.

we saw a better looking dessert stores with very nice pictures!

and we went in and ordered 5 more desserts

LOL

i even went in and said: I am a representative sent by 'U' magazine to do an interview on the dessert you sell here

LOL

of course they didnt believe me

we had..

1) 2 Hong Kong Pineapple Buns with butter (Awesome! Must Try)

2) Strawberry Smoothie

3) Grape Milkshake (which tasted awful. dont try it)

4) Mango with grass jelly

5) Aloe Vera, Osanthamus, and Sago Ice

then we realised we were running late

so we rushed there

i took several photos for the Seah family and also the church members who went there to support Uncle Steven

there were like 2 blackouts due to power trip during the dinner

yup

well, i guess it was a fruitful trip there

and somethings just cannot be forgotten

i think its been proved today.

REC

last nite, me, tiong and bao had a mini outing

we went to the movies!

we decided to catch the 9pm show of REC

REC is rated NC-16

and it was the most horrifying movie i ever seen

omg

we shd really have gone over to watch hsm 3 instead

i mean..watching ghosts movies seem okay..

but when u watch a movie where people scare people

thats bad

in the movie

it talked about how there was this infection in a building

and when the authorities found out, they sealed the building and left the occupants fearing for their lives

those who are infected become crazy

and start to bite people

and when bitten, the person becomes infected too

so the movie goes on to show how a TV crew who went in try to escape

the TV crew was in the building because they wanted to film down how the life of a fire fighter goes, although the TV crew and the firefighters, had no idea that there was an infection there

it was only when the building was seasled up, that their nightmare started

the movie ended showing the last survivor, the TV presenter, being dragged away from the camera by the girl who started the infection, a portugese girl.

well

at least we finally watched that movie

although i think we could have done without it in the end

hi..

friday, went back to see the new ngee ann building

6 stories

invited back for NAS Alumni AGM 08

ngee ann is now one of the rare number of secondary schools with an auditiorium that is way btr then those in junior collegues

seriously..i can slp better on these chairs

fully cushioned, floor fully carpeted

but the reception at the end was rather disappointing

well

and i have to go back again cuz my letter of approval for CIP hours done this year for ngee ann was addressed to the wrong junior college

saturday, went for family function

went with uncle lawrence and family

linus is soooooo tall

like..he's just 14

and in 1 year, he grew by 30 cm? he's now taller then both his parents, who are already VERY tall

linus, at 14, is now at least 1.9m?

brought them to changi village for dinner

since they missed chicken rice

they reside in hong kong u see..

watched a little soccer

before deciding it was deifnietly a man utd win..

so ard half time, i went to play fifa instead

cuz hull were playing as if they were super generous, and super bad

that was until half time though

when i woke up

hull had battled back 4-3

although after watching replays

those 2 goals they scored were retardedly simple

one quick lob and a defensive blunder by ferdiannd conced a penalty

but still

gd value for win

okay..nt too bad

on financial crisis

then we saw our new youth pastor

he didnt look like the one i imagined though

my imagination was someone more dark skined, wear glasses, look more casual..haas

but he looks quite interesting

a pity i cldnt join the leaders for lunch with him

heard it was fun

and we rcvd the bad news that uncle steven was gna leave..

hopefully we'll make the best out of this last few months..
